Kotobuki brunch, by TCI LAB, Ureshino (JP) 2016

In Ureshino, on the island of Kyushu in the west of Japan, a craftsman exalts the surface of the porcelain by engraving dots on the “biscuits”, a very old technique called kakiotoshi. “Kotobuki brunch” is a service for hot and cold drinks, highlighting this beautiful mastery. In Japanese, we say “kotobuki” to wish a long and happy life. Each piece, signed by the master, presents a few dots placed freely out of the “grid”. This production is a collaboration of the Soejima cousins.
